Registration Open for Little Miss ALWS Pageant
The One More One Less Project will benefit from People’s Choice Award
Registration is open for the 2023 Little Miss American
Legion World Series (ALWS) Pageant, scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, Aug. 5, at
LeGrand Center.
Registration is available online at www.7thinningstretch.cc. The pageant is the first event
of the festival, with other activities opening at 3:00 PM in Uptown Shelby.
“The Little Miss ALWS Pageant is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for contestants, no matter
their level of pageantry experience,” says Pageant Director Adrian Hamrick. “Winning
queens are assigned teams for The American Legion World Series games and become
their personal cheerleaders and biggest fans! Contestants return year after year from all
over the U.S. in hopes of being chosen as Little Miss ALWS!”
Pageant contestants compete in six age categories for Little Miss American Legion World
Series crowns. Baby Miss contestants are 0-11 months old; Toddler Miss contestants are
12-23 months old; Miniature Miss contestants are 2-3 years old; Tiny Miss contestants are
4-6 years old; Little Miss contestants are 7-9 years old; and Junior Miss contestants are 10-
12 years old.
Contestants compete in beauty and sportswear categories and their choice of optional
categories: photogenic, best hair, best eyes, best personality; and best model. To be
eligible for the Mini Grand and Grand Majestic Titles, contestants must compete in all
options.
Judges for the Little Miss ALWS Pageant focus on confidence on stage, overall appearance
and whether the contestant is enjoying herself on stage.
The People’s Choice Award is given to the contestant with the most $1 votes. The money
raised with the People’s Choice votes for 2023 will be designated to the One More One
Less Project, which partners with local churches all over North Carolina and parts of
South Carolina to create support for foster children, foster parents, social workers,
adoptive children, adoptive parents, and others involved in foster care. Founders Jeff and
Mandy Marburger have been involved in foster care for years, from being house parents
at a group home to fostering and adopting children.
Recipients of previous People’s Choice funds are the Susan G. Komen Foundation, chosen
to honor festival headliner Martina McBride; the Carson King Family; The Mental Health
Association of Cleveland County; and the regional National Alliance on Mental Health.
