The headliner for the 4th Annual Seventh Inning Stretch Festival in Uptown Shelby on Saturday, Aug. 6, will be singer-songwriter-guitarist Uncle Kracker. Born Matthew Shafer in Mount Clemens, Mich., Uncle Kracker covers genres including rock, alternative rock, rap rock, pop rock and country. His first major label album, “Double Wide,” went double-platinum and included the No. 1 hit “Follow Me.”
Uncle Kracker is known for his interaction with audiences in live concerts. “It’s meant to be a party, and I want everybody involved,” he states on his website.
Uncle Kracker will take the main stage at the Festival at 8:30 p.m., following a performance by local favorite Dirty Grass Soul, a seven-member band that mixes country, bluegrass and Southern rock ‘n roll. The evening also will feature a Pickers Jam led by Kevin Dedmon of Dirty Grass Soul. The band has announced the upcoming release of an album, “The Long Way,” in April or May 2016.
